Boomi named a leader in Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for IPaaS for the 11th Time!

This is a historic moment, as Boomi has secured the leading position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integration Platform as a Service for the 11th consecutive time. This achievement demonstrates that its solution provides great integration capabilities and creates a future-proof iPaaS that is well worth investing in long-term - and displays its critical role played by intelligent integrations in designing efficient and resilient IT infrastructures.

In my LinkedIn post regarding the matter, I used an analogy comparing an integration service to a seasoned waiter - discreet, yet amazingly efficient. Now, I would love to reiterate that, as this success illustrates how the Boomi integration platform embodies this analogy to a T. With that in mind, let's now dive into the innovations introduced by the Boomi IPaaS that enabled it to reach that milestone.

Boomi IPaaS features: what's new?

As one of the most innovative enterprise IPaaS available on the market, Boomi is proving that it's becoming an increasingly complete integration environment, moving beyond just connecting classic apps to now supporting APIs, data, and even AI agents. Here are some of the key new features:

Even smarter automation with Boomi AgentStudio

Let’s start with what, perhaps, I find most exciting — the launch of Boomi AgentStudio.

Why? Picture a large company with a sprawling IT infrastructure — bots, automation tools, AI, and ML engines constantly humming in the background. The problem? Managing that complex ecosystem, especially within an agile business model supported by lean, small teams.

And here’s where Boomi AgentStudio comes in. It enables responsible, transparent, and controlled use of AI across the organization, helping avoid chaotic automation and prevent flawed paths from scaling unchecked. This makes it an integral part of the Boomi platform, as it further facilitates data management and process evaluation.

Expanded API management service

If your company is starting to feel the squeeze from a growing crowd of microservices and APIs, this might catch your interest. Boomi now enables federated management through the Boomi API Control Plane.

Sounds like something out of Star Trek scenario? Maybe. In reality, however, it’s a smart, intuitive solution that allows individual departments to create and manage their own APIs, while offering organization-wide oversight via a unified platform, including shared security policies, monitoring, and API lifecycle management.

“Okay, Artur, but what’s new here? Isn’t this standard for any iPaaS?” — Well, yes and no. Boomi’s 2025 approach stands out in three key areas.

  1. Centralized API Discovery – Automatic identification of all APIs across the organization, including elusive "shadow APIs" operating outside of IT’s radar.
  2. Multi-Gateway API Management – Most enterprise integration solutions (including Boomi in the past) handled APIs through a single gateway. That worked fine... until businesses started deploying distributed environments with different gateways. Boomi now allows you to retain existing gateways while managing them all from one Boomi console.
  3. Enhanced Security & Governance – Unified security policies and monitoring across all APIs, improving regulatory compliance and reducing the risk of data breaches.

By uncovering hidden APIs and centralizing their oversight, organizations can avoid duplicated efforts and streamline decision-making. At the same time, managing multiple gateways from a single console preserves existing investments while reducing unnecessary complexity. Sounds like a reliable tool to have in your organization, doesn't it?

Unified platform for data integration (formerly Rivery)

I believe this innovation will be one of the most promising developments, and one of the key factors that positioned Boomi as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant this time. At first glance, it may seem similar to the aforementioned unified APIs. But to fully understand the changes introduced by Boomi in data management, we need to take a step back and examine what Rivery was all about a few years ago.

Once upon a time, Rivery was a distinct, highly specialized integration platform. Its focus lay mainly on data integration within the DataOps model - meaning, it served as a tool for downloading, data processing, and loading (ETL/ELT).

To depict this process:

  1. First, Rivery gathered all the data from different sources (SaaS, databases, ERPs, etc.)
  2. Then, it allowed it to be transformed and loaded into the data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.).
  3. It also offered ready-to-use connectors and no-code pipelines.

After Boomi acquired Rivery, the technology was placed on a workbench for refinement. The outcome of this merger is remarkably distinctive among integration platforms as a service. Now, Boomi has its own comprehensive data integration platform that enhances its entire integration ecosystem.

It brings a plethora of benefits for Boomi users - from providing much needed standardization to empowering lean teams to breaking down silos and managing APIs, data, and applications from a single platform. By unifying this vital part of integration processes, Boomi Data Integration Platform simplifies governance, enhances security, and lays a solid foundation for building AI-driven workflows. I am looking forward to seeing it in action!

So… who’s Boomi integration platform really for?

From my perspective, manufacturing companies with complex supply chains tend to gain the most. Especially those already using major ERP systems like SAP, IFS, or Oracle, while still running legacy, custom-built systems in the background — the ones that are "still kind of working."

One of Boomi’s undeniable strengths, in contrast to other IPaaS platforms, is scalability. Sometimes, it’s smarter to put a full-on upgrade on hold and instead design a transition strategy tailored to your organization’s real needs — something I touched on in one of my earlier posts. But let’s cut to the chase:

Artur - is Boomi really worth it?

In all honesty, Boomi isn’t for everyone. But if your company relies on multiple systems and your IT or operations teams are starting to lose track of what’s where, it might be time to rethink your integration strategy and choose one based on real-time data and intentional process automation to eliminate waste and improve flow.

For some, watching Boomi rack up yet another award in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Integration Platform might become a hobby. As for me, I remain proud that, for now, we at Bimodal Solutions are the only Silver-Tier distributor and pioneer of Boomi solutions on the Polish market. We keep our fingers crossed for even greater success ahead!
